Philip W. Bernstein, 83, of Quakertown formerly of Chalfont died Thursday, August 14, 2008 in his home. He was the husband of Jane F. (Bright) Bernstein. They were married 60 years last January. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Margaret (Smith) Bernstein. He was a machine operator retiring in 1990 from Leeds & Northrup in North Wales. After retiring he worked from 1990-2006 for the Piper Tavern and the former Conti Cross Keys, Doylestown. Philip was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WW II and also was a member of the Naval Reserves. He was a life member of the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post 255 Sellersville where he served as Sergeant of Arms and also a member of the North Penn Gun Club. Philip enjoyed playing Santa Claus for over 60 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Jo Ann of San Bernardino, CA, two sons Bill and his wife Evelyn of Quakertown and Gary of Perkasie. A son-in-law Carl Bauman of Telford. Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Betty Lou Bauman, a daughter in law Carol and a sister Phyllis. Services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Call Sunday 2:00-3:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
