William H. Hardcastle, 84, of Quakertown died August 5, 2009 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty R. (Seachrist) Hardcastle. Born in Upper Saucon Twp, he was the son of the late Walter & Mabel (Herman) Hardcastle. He was an assembler for the U.S. Gauge/Ametek Division in Sellersville retiring in 1987. William was a car enthusiast owning a 55 Chevy and winning several local car shows. In 1962 he raced at the former Vargo Drag Strip in Perkasie where he beat the I-Stock National Record Holder. He was a former member of the Quakertown Moose. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WW II. He is survived by a son Dennis A. of Richlandtown. A granddaughter Mary Powell and her husband David of Nazareth, and a great grandchild Daniel Jacob. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Karen, four brothers Raymond, Walter, John, and Paul, and two sisters Lena and Mildred. Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Call 9:30-10:30 in the funeral home.
