William 'Captain Bill' J. Leyden, Sr.

Obituary William J. "Captain Bill" Leyden, Sr., 78, of Barto formerly of Fallsington, PA died on May 21st in the home of his son, William, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Carole Ray (Seitz) Leyden. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late John Patrick & Mildred (Auld) Leyden. He retired in 2002 as a Millwright for U.S. Steel Fairless Works. William was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of various VFW Posts and a member of the American Legion. As a lifelong fisherman, he spent endless hours salt water fishing with friends and family at the Jersey shore and in Florida. Bill also enjoyed go kart racing, where he met the love of his life Carole. He was a proud PopPop and loved sharing stories about his four grandchildren. He was generous, kind, quick-witted and certainly loved the props he had for each holiday. He is survived by two sons William J. Leyden, Jr. (Sharon) of Quakertown and Chad B. Leyden (Sarah) of Glenside, PA. Four grandchildren Grant, Justin, Tyler & Hannah. Predeceased by his brother John. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 7:00-8:30 P.M. in the C. R. Graveside Service will be on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Rd. Newtown, PA 18940. (Procession will line up at 10:45) For almost three years Bill received countless transfusions of blood and platelets, the gift he received was truly the gift of life, which he was extremely grateful for.
