Wesley A. Conahay, a beloved and cherished member of the Quakertown community, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 23, 1930, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Son of late Edward and Pauline Conahay, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
Wesley was a devoted husband to Delores and an exceptional father to his six children: Steven, Ray (Colleen), Linda (Jim) , John (Yvonne), Michael, and Lisa. His children were the light of his life and they never left his side during his final months. His legacy lives on through the eleven grandchildren he adored: Jenelle, Marisa, Ryan, Patrick, Nicole, Taylor, Jake, Brendan, Devin, Camryn, and Angelina. He also had the joy of being great-grandfather to Isabella, Christopher, Addison, and Olivia.
He was known for many things: as a dedicated husband with an unyielding love for Delores; as a devoted father who always put his family first; as a loving grandfather who doted on each grandchild with pride; as well as being an incredible great-grandfather whose wisdom will be sorely missed.
Wesley's sense of humor lit up every room he entered -- often making others laugh with just one witty remark or playful gesture. He was truly full of life -- always ready to dance at any occasion or share stories from days gone by that would leave everyone laughing until their sides hurt. One could say that Wesley was indeed the "life of the party," bringing joy wherever he went.
He had many hobbies that brought him immense pleasure including whistling tunes while taking long hikes in nature, collecting minerals and gemstones to adorn shelves in their home, reading, dancing, gardening and, later in life, found joy in painting.
Before retiring, Wesley worked hard all through his life. He served our country as a medic in the Army during the Korean War. He received the Medal of Honor along with the Bronze Star for his actions at Chosin Reservoir. He pursued a career in the printing industry and took great pride in his job as lead pressman for Meehan Tooker.
A faithful member of Community Baptist Church, it seems fitting that Wesley's passing occurred on an extraordinary day -- during a solar eclipse -- considering how brightly he shone throughout his lifetime. The impact Wesley made during his life cannot be overstated - his kindness, his laughter, his warmth will be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. The loss felt by those who loved Wesley is immeasurable, but they take comfort in knowing that he has left behind an enduring legacy.
A visitation will be held at the C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 821 West Broad Street, Quakertown, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 1:00pm until the time of the funeral service, in the funeral home, at 2:00pm.
