Warren B. Cooper, 91 of Quakertown, formerly of Coudersport, died May 5, 2012 at home attended by his two sons. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty (Golden) Cooper with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage in March, 2009. Born in Summit Hill, PA he was the son of the late James Bennett and Emma (Maclain) Cooper. After graduating from Williamsburg Technical Institute, he worked for a brief time in the Bell Aircraft factory in Buffalo, NY. With the beginning of WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Pacific Theatre. In 1946, after his honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant, he joined the Pennsylvania State Police where he spent the next 34 years at many locations across the Commonwealth until his retirement as a Sergeant at the Dublin Barracks in 1980. It was after his transfer to Coudersport in 1947 that he met the women who would become the center of his life. They married on the first day of Spring in 1948. In addition to his professional life, he dedicated most of his off-duty time to his second love, gardening. Warren was also mechanically gifted and was proficient do-it-yourselfer for much of his life. He will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband and father to the family he and Betty raised as well as a loyal and steadfast support for his extended family and many friends. He will also be remembered for a life of service to his country and his fellow human beings. Warren was a 32nd degree Mason with Eulalia Lodge #342,67 year member of American Legion post 316 Summit Hill and a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spinnerstown. He is survived by two sons, Richard of Allentown and Bruce (Sandy) of Shell Beach, CA. His extended family; brother Quentin (Joann), sister in law Roberta Kasper(Frank), nieces Chris Witkowski(Nate) and daughter Hannah Elizabeth, Clara Miller, Tracey Hallman(Steve), Monalyn McGarry(Arnold) MarlaAnn Oneil(Steve) and his nephews Irvin Miller(Barbara), Bennett Cooper(Joanne), Bill Cooper(Debbie) and Jan Brechtel. In addition to his wife Elizabeth he was predeceased by a son Kenneth, brother William and sisters Sarah, Irene and Clara. He was also predeceased by Terri Flanagan. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1565 Sleepy Hollow Rd., Spinnerstown. Call 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the church.
