Walter Edmond Driver of Haycock Township in Quakertown PA died January 19th, 2009 from complications of pneumonia after a lengthy battle of lung cancer. Ed spent his career as an electrical engineer working over 30 years with Aydin Corp / Microcom / L-3 Communications, and most recently a consultant with Precision Systems, Inc. Ed was a graduate of Georgia Tech, Drexel University and earned his MBA from Temple University. Ed was a lover of life, laughter, and all aspects of the science of engineering. But most of all, Ed was a lover of his family. Married for 42 years to his junior high school sweetheart, his children and their families, his beloved mother, extended family and close personal friends also enjoyed devoted bonds with Ed that transcended all else. Those who worked with Ed were inspired by his passion, integrity and he was a mentor to many in his field. His favorite moments were peaceful - sitting quietly on the porch, picnics with his wife, lunches on the river with friends, tinkering in his workshop and always reading everything he could find ... especially during football games enjoyed by Kathy. We loved him, we cherished him, we admired and respected him and we miss him sorely now and forever. Survived by mother Mildred S. Driver of Bowman Georgia, wife Kathryn M. Driver, two daughters Jennifer and Kerry, one son Matthew, three grandsons and one niece and nephew, Ed will be dearly missed by all. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date per Ed's request. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital / ICU and the American Cancer Society Lung Cancer Research Division.
