Sylvia E. Gilley

Sylvia E. "Sue" Gilley, 74 of Quakertown died Friday October 28, 2016 in PinnacleHealth Harrisburg Hospital. She was the wife of John R. Gilley. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last February. Born in Quakertown she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Hoot) Esser. In addition to being a homemaker and mother she was last employed at the former Frenches Mustard Co. in Souderton. Prior to that she was a waitress at several restaurants in the Upper Bucks Area. She was a former Little League Baseball and girls softball coach. She also served as a former Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Red Hill Order of Eastern Star and a past President of the Auxiliary of Tall Cedars in Quakertown. Sue was also a member of Solomons United Church of Christ in Bedminster. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Gregory S. (Elisa) a brother John (Mary Ann) three sisters Sarah Murmylo (Steve), Linda Neff and Carol Newton (Dave) and the light of her life her grandson John, IV. She was predeceased by a son John R., Jr. and two brothers James and David. Services will be held on Thursday Nov. 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Solomons U.C.C. 2990 Bedminster Rd. Perkasie (Bedminster) PA 18944. Call on Wednesday evening Nov. 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown PA 18951 and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the church at the above address.
