Stephen Farbotnik, 82, of Revere died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Born in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Theodore Frank & Anna (Kinasz) Farbotnik, both immigrants from Ukraine. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Philadelphia where he attended Simon Gratz High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of the Signal Corp for three years during which time he was transferred to various places throughout the U.S. He was able to attend the University of Minnesota for two years after his discharge from the Army, and later returned to Philadelphia where he worked as a truck driver and remained until his early forties when a back injury forced an early retirement. He moved to Revere in the late 1960's where he lived until his death. He was a member of the Bucks County Birder's Club and The Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center where he enjoyed walking the nature trails and being surrounded by nature and wildlife. He was an avid birder and spent much of his time outdoors creating feeding areas and growing plants to attract birds to his yard. He appreciated music of many types but specifically classical and the singing of Pavarotti. He also enjoyed playing traditional Ukrainian songs on his mandolin. He is survived by a daughter Carolyn, wife of Barry Soles of Levittown, a daughter Alida, wife of Stephen Spry of Quakertown, and a son Devich of Revere, as well as, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister Mary and a brother John. A memorial will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2005 with calling hours from 1:00-2:30 P.M. followed by a service at 2:30 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown.
