Earle Wright Yerkes, Sr., 85, of Quakertown died June 27th doing the work he loved at the Quakertown Farmers Market. He was the husband of Nancy (Hammerschmidt) Yerkes. Born in Pineville, PA he was the son of the late John & Helen (Dever) Yerkes. Hard working and personable are words that only begin to describe the man Earle was. For nearly fifty years, Earle worked tirelessly as the assistant manager of operations for the Quakertown Farmers Market. "Home" for the Yerkes family quickly became the Souper Bowl Restaurant where all holidays and family gatherings were held. More than anything, Earle loved his family unconditionally. His legacy of dedication and kindness will live on in the family he leaves behind. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Tink Lindsay and her husband Mike of Sellersville; a son Lucky Yerkes and his wife Michelle of Quakertown; three sons - Jeffrey Wyllie and his wife Brenda of Coopersburg, Randy Wyllie and his wife Lisa of Benton, PA and Scott Wyllie and his wife Tami of Coopersburg; two brothers Joseph Yerkes of Texas and William Yerkes of Allentown; five sisters Helen Ditmer and Adele Winkler both of Quakertown, Mary Yerkes and Mabel Wieand both of Telford, and Estelle Shaffer of Perkasie; fourteen grandchildren - Jamie, Joshua, Lauren, Alex, Tanner, Tara, Tia, Nick, Tyler, Kayla, Emma, Piper, Zachary, and Jordan; and three great grandchildren - EJ, Loagen, and Chayse. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Harry, and a sister Bonnie. Services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John's Lutheran Church Main Street Richlandtown, PA.
