Edward R. "Dutch" Thomas, Sr., 80, of Trumbauersville died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sarah "Sally" (Schlicter) Thomas. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Earl R., Sr. & Emma (Hartzag) Thomas. He retired in 1978 from the PA Dept of Transportation. Prior to that he owned and operated Ed's Garage in Trumbauersville and was the Trumbauersville Boro Police Chief and also the owner of the former Thomas Variety Store now Spor's. With 20 years of service to the Borough of Trumbauersville Dutch served as a past Mayor and councilman. He was an honorary board member of the Betterment Club and a member of the Quakertown American Legion Post 242, the Quakertown Moose and North Penn Gun Club. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II. He is survived by four sons Edward R., Jr. and his wife Barbara of Alburtis, Rich "Dutch" of Center Valley, Robert and his wife Susan and Greg and his wife Kathy all of Quakertown. A brother Earl R., Jr. of Florida, a sister Betty Berstler of Levittown. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother Robert. Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown, PA.
