Sophie Walczak

Sophie Walczak, 93, of Pennsburg formerly of Queens, NY died August 19, 2009 in her home. She was the wife of the late Victor S. Walczak. Born in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Dominick & Kunegunda (Pranaitis) Pocius. Sophie and her late husband Victor raced homing pigeons when they were young. I felt sorry for the last pigeon home because it might end up being dinner. Sophie loved to crochet with thread, she made beautiful doilies, potholders, tablecloths and pocket books. She also loved playing the lottery and always hoping for the big win, and rearranging furniture so you never knew what you would find, but you could guarantee one piece would always be cattycornered. She was a member of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship. Sophie is survived by three grandchildren Timothy V. and his wife Maria J. Borga, Bruce B. and his wife Linda, Valerie G. Kurdewan and her husband Jeff. Her great grandchildren, Jason, Alexandra, Travis, Rebecca, Jacqueline, Brooke, Ryan, and Ian. Two great grandchildren. Two sisters Bertha Fausett and her husband Edward, Ruth Talacki and her husband Pete. A brother Edward Pocius and his wife Katherine. A daughter-in-law Carol B. Walczak. Many nieces and nephews (including great and great great). She was predeceased by a son Victor E., her twin sister Anna and her husband Adolf Studley, and a brother John and his wife Stella Pocius. Services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc, (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown.
