Shane William Leister, Quakertown, died Sunday, October 8, 2006 in his home. He was 17. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of William & Lori (Hentz) Leister of Quakertown. Shane was in his junior year at Quakertown Community High School where he was a proud member of their wrestling team. A nationally ranked wrestler accomplishing the following achievements 2006 South East Regional Champion and PIAA State Qualifier, 2006 PA Wrestling Federation Free Style State Champion, 2005 PA Wrestling Federation Free Style and Greco Roman State Champion, 2004 All American at the ASCICS Cadet Free Style National Championships, 2003 Tulsa National Runner-Up, 2003-2004 member of the PA Mason Dixon Team, 2002 Tulsa Cliff Keen Kickoff Classic Champion, 2002 Ohio All Star Team. Shane also received many other wrestling awards. Shane very much enjoyed watching NFL football every Sunday. He was an Oakland Raiders and Ohio State University football fan. Shane loved his friends. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spinnerstown. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters Kristin and Emily, both at home, maternal grandparents Chester and Nancy Hentz and paternal grandfather Harvey Leister, and his wife Nancy several cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Betty Rose Leister. Friends are invited to call on Thursday evening October 12th from 6:00-9:00 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Shane's family request that any student be accompanied by a parent. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family Memorial contributions can be made to Quakertown Community School District Wrestling Club 600 Park Ave. Quakertown or to the Quakertown Youth Club c/o Paul Edwards 2035 Esten Rd., Quakertown.
