Sarah Mildred Hagan, our much loved Nana peacefully passed away on Monday April 12th, 2010 in the same house in which she was born on June 15, 1911. Mildred was 98 years old and a part of Richlandtown for almost 100 years. She lived in her home her whole life except for a few years that she spent away while staying in her dorm at college. She graduated from Ursinus College in 1931 and received her master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Mildred worked for her father at Freed's Shoe Factory of Richlandtown before becoming a school teacher at Richlandtown Elementary and then in the Quakertown school district where she enjoyed teaching fourth grade until her retirement. She was a lifelong active member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Richlandtown, where she was involved in numerous activities including the choir, teaching adult Sunday school, and ladies activities. Mildred was on the women's board at the Quakertown hospital and volunteered at the hospital snack bar for many years. She was a Rotary Ann, a member of the Eastern Star, and the Richlandtown Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, her cat, travel, quilting, bridge, golf, and was a member of Indian Valley Country Club since its beginning approximately fifty years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents John Enoch Freed and Sarah Elsie Freed, her brother, William Freed, her husband, John Bernard Hagan, and her son, John Bruce Hagan. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ruth March Hagan of Wayne, PA., her grandchildren, Ricky and Leslie Hagan Bone of Eastanollee, GA, John Brent and Heather Hagan of Phoenixville, PA, and Elizabeth March Hagan of Wayne, PA. She is also survived by her ten great-grandchildren, Robyn of Oxford, OH, Starry, Esther, Abigail, Kimberley, Timothy, Jonathan, Autumn, Christopher, and Theodore all of Eastanollee, GA, and two step-great-grandchildren Zachary and Jessica of Phoenixville, PA. Services will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ 4 North Main St. Richlandtown, PA. Call Thursday evening April 15th from 6:30-8:00 P.M. in the C.
