Mildred S. Satterthwait

Mildred S. Satterthwait, age 87, died peacefully on Nov 26, 2016 in her room at The Bridges of Bent Creek in Mechanicsburg from Alzheimer's. She was born July 31, 1929 in Egg Harbor, NJ to the late John and Sally (Schantzenbach) Oeltjen-bruns. Her family moved to Applebachsville, Pa managing their farm for most of her childhood. Milly attended West Chester Teachers College and received two masters at Lehigh University. She used her education to obtain her dream job as a Math Teacher for the Palisades and Central Bucks School Districts teaching in both the middle school and high school until her retirement. In 1952 she married the love of her life, the late Harold W. Satterthwait, and they settled in Doylestown, Pa to raise their two daughters. Milly was into health and fitness and enjoyed walking, cross country and downhill skiing, saving money, camping and traveling. She had a love of old barns and was elated to build her 'barn home' in 1989 on her family's farm. Milly and Hal also loved the lord and were followers of the Crystal Cathedral in California. Milly's greatest love was for her family and friends and her passion was to help them and others when in need. She was 'spunky' and always smiling and will be truly missed. Mildred is survived by two daughters Debra S. Kingsbury (Stuart S., III), and Susan A. Wiest (Timothy A.). Her sister Eileen Connor and five grandchildren Erin Tyson (Daniel), Katy Kingsbury, Cara, Jena, and Derek Wiest. Two great grandchildren Adriana and Desmond. She is predeceased by a brother Richard and two sisters Lorraine Ford, and Yvonne Novak. Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown, PA 18951. Viewing will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am.
