Mildred S. Kummerer

Mildred S. Kummerer, Harleysville, formerly of Trumbauersville, died Tuesday, October 31st in Peter Becker Community at the age of 92. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Kummerer. Born in Vernfield, she was the daughter of the late Levi & Emma (Shisler) Shelly. Prior to retiring, Mildred worked as a bus driver for Levy Bus Company in Trumbauersville. In 1975, she was presented with the "Driver of Distinction Award" by Milton Shapp, the governor of Pennsylvania, for her exceptional work with children with disabilities. Mildred was a member of Christ Church of the United Church of Christ in Trumbauersville where, in her younger years, she was active in their Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a longtime member of both the Trumbauersville Fire Company and Grand View Hospital Ladies Auxiliaries. Mildred found great satisfaction in reaching out to those around her by volunteering for many years at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. She is survived by a daughter Jane Butler and her husband Herbert of Woodbury, NJ; a brother Robert Shelly of North Wales; two grandchildren - Jeffrey Kummerer and his wife Janell and Chad Kummerer and his wife Rebecca. She was predeceased by a son James; and six brothers and sisters - Irene Young, Howard Shelly, Florence Price, Laura Price, her twin Herbert Shelly, and Linford Shelly. Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Church of the United Church of Christ 101 N. Main St. Trumbauersville. There will be no calling hours. The C. R.
