Mary A. Sterling, "Peachie" 73, of Quakertown passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2005 in her home. Born in Doylestown she was the daughter of Mary Louise (Parsons) Sterling of Coopersburg and the late Thomas Francis Sterling. She worked as a chef for many restaurants in the New Hope area and retired in 1985. Prior to that she was a Nurse. At age 17 she was scouted and signed by the All American Girls Professional Baseball League as a catcher but was unable to attend due to family reasons. Peachie enjoyed drawing and writing stories. She had a life-long love of animals and loved her cats and dogs. She was the life of every party and brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew her. In addition to her mother she is survived by a brother Thomas Francis Sterling and his wife Bettie of Florida. Two nephews Craig Sterling and his wife Carolyn and Charles Sterling and his wife Pat. A niece Marylou Shaw and her husband Bob. 6 grandchildren. Life long friend Gene Broschart, and many loving and devoted friends. She was predeceased by a son Thomas Joseph Bingler, an infant brother Kenneth Sterling and a sister Cecelia "Celie" Sterling. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2006 at 8:00 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. There will be no calling hours.
