Leroy O. Erney, 88, of Quakertown formerly of Zion Hill died June 8th in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp. He was the husband of Beatrice "Lizz" (Arnold) Erney. They were married 63 years last October. Born in Quakertown he was the son of the late Orlando & Emma (Oswald) Erney. He retired in 1982 from Conrail in Bethlehem. He enjoyed all animals and trapping as a young boy. He also enjoyed gardening and as stated by his church pastor at one time he was a gardener extraordinaire. Leroy spoke fluent Pennsylvania Dutch and enjoyed old time country and blue grass music. He attended Locust Valley Chapel in Coopersburg. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Ron and his wife Annie of Quakertown, daughter Karen Bonstingl and her husband Tom of Coopersburg. A brother Bill of Bethlehem, and two sisters Betty Beahn and Edna Pavalinski both of Quakertown. Three grandchildren Tammy Hendricks, Jason Bonstingl and Jackie Bonstingl. Four great grandchildren Meghan, Erin, and Marek and Xandra due in July. He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. Services will be held on Monday, June 14th at 11:00 A.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Call Sunday evening 7:00-8:30 P.M. and Monday 10:00-11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
