Lee L. Spangler Jr., 85, of Quakertown died January 19th in LifeQuest Nursing Center, Milford Twp. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Moyer) Spangler. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Lee L., Sr. and Verna Marie ( Moyer) Spangler. Lee was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Quakertown where he was a lector, usher and teacher. Prior to his retirement, Lee worked as an elementary school teacher for the Quakertown Community School District for 33 years. He was a member of the Alumni Associations of East Stroudsburg, Kutztown and Lehigh Universities and the Quakertown American Legion Post #242. Lee served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WW II with the Amphibious Force and often retold stories of being on the beach on D Day June 6, 1944. He is survived by a daughter Jane M. Loch and her husband Arthur L., two sons - Robert E. and his wife Frances and Thomas L. and his wife Lynn Lomas, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 10:30 A.M. in St. John's Lutheran Church 19 S. Tenth St. Quakertown. Call Thursday evening January 22nd from 7:00-8:30 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown and Friday 9:30-10:30 A.M. in the church.
