Lauren A. Ritter

December 31, 1958 — August 13, 2012

Lauren Anne (Graybill) Ritter passed from this world to Eternal Life surrounded by her loving family after a brave battle with renal cancer. She will be missed beyond measure. Born on December 31, 1958 in Quakertown, the fourth of nine children, she graduated from Quakertown High School in 1976 before marrying and having three children. A devoted mother for thirty-three years and a beloved grandmother for thirteen years, she was also a caring sister and friend. Lauren loved her family more than anything and always put the well being of others in front of her own needs. She brought her incredible work ethic to several careers throughout her life, always with the altruistic goal of helping others. Lauren worked for many years at the American Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley, the YWCA of Bethlehem and Gateway School. Over the years she beautified other people's lives as a floral designer, chocolatier and caterer. Her most recent position, more a calling than a career, was at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center as a Community Life Coordinator. She loved making the lives of the elderly residents more meaningful and her ever-smiling face and genuine care was a comfort to them. Lauren was also a dedicated volunteer. She volunteered for many years as a Disaster Relief responder with the American Red Cross, oftentimes getting out of bed in the middle of the night to provide emotional support for victims of tragedy. She even traveled to Des Moines, IA to provide disaster relief services in the wake of the 1993 floods. Lauren was also a lifelong Girl Scout, leading troops for both her daughters and her granddaughter. She had a lovely singing voice and built a strong crackling campfire. Her talents were many. She was gifted at basket weaving, scrap booking, and craft making and decorated her home beautifully for every holiday. Lauren loved browsing antique shops, watching Downton Abbey, and going out for tea with her daughters and granddaughters. She spent a wonderful week in the English countryside in 2011. Lauren is survived by her daughter, Melissa and son-in-law Jason Camilo of Fort Washington; her son Daniel and daughter-in-law Samara of Wind Gap; and her daughter Megan and partner Harry Brown, Jr. of Plumsteadville. Her pride and joy were her beautiful granddaughters Amelia Camilo, Gwyneth Bartholomew and Emma Brown. She is also survived by her brothers and sister: Matthew and wife Sharon; Steven and wife Ruth; Timothy and wife Lynne; Jerome and wife Josee; Christopher and wife Jody; Jonathan and wife Lorraine and Jennifer Graybill. Additionally, she is survived by her former husband, David Ritter, and her many nieces and nephews. While her family and friends will miss Lauren's beautiful spirit, they take comfort in knowing she has been joyously reunited with her mother, father, brother and aunts in Heaven. The world is a better place for Lauren having been here and there is no greater legacy one can leave.
