Joseph E. Simmons, 76 of New Tripoli formerly of Quakertown died Saturday April 23, 2011 in Arden Courts of Allentown. He was the husband of the late Gertrude "Trudi" H. (Jakuskis) Simmons. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Bertha (Metris) Simmons. He was a car salesman for various dealerships before retiring. Prior to that he was the owner of the former Milford Speed Shop in Milford Square. Joseph was a Lithuanian Historian and a member and past president of the Knights of Lithuanian Council #63. He was also an avid train enthusiast and collector. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Joseph was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by two sons Andrew A. and his wife Mary Beth of Bethlehem and Mark S. and his wife Lesa of Emmaus. A sister Eleanor Ann Pettit and her husband Ralph Eugene of Telford. Five grandchildren, Heather, Joey, Amber, Emily and Chase and one great grandchild Derek. He was predeceased by a son Joseph. Services will be held on Wednesday April 27, at 10:00 a.m. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown PA 18951. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening April 26, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral Home.
