Joseph B. Fite, Jr.

March 22, 1931 — June 1, 2017

Joseph B. Fite Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June, 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86. He was born in Philadelphia on March 22, 1931 to the late Joseph B. Fite Sr. and Marian (Goebel) Fite. During the Depression, Joe lived for a time in his beloved Mauch Chunk before the family moved back to Philadelphia. They eventually settled in Fox Chase where he attended St. Cecilia School. Joe graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1949. He met the love of his life, Patricia, and they married on July 12, 1952. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in July. Joe moved his young family to Warminster in 1955 and built his own log home in Haycock Township where he and Pat moved in 1981. He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve and taught at the Navy Yard in South Philadelphia. Joe was a member of Electrical Workers Local Union 98 beginning in 1950, following in his fathers footsteps. He worked on several big projects in the Philadelphia region including the Spectrum, the Centrifuge at the Johnsville Navy Base and the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Joe also worked for more than 20 years as the third shift electrical foreman at the former Schmidts Brewery in Philadelphia. He was an expert archer and an avid outdoorsman. Joe was a member of the Springtown Rod and Gun Club, the National Rifle Association and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Fox Chase Weightlifting Club, Penn Oak Bowmen, Jericho Mountain Bowmen, the Bucks County Historical Society and the Haycock Historical Society. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Joseph B. Fite III and his wife Ruth Ann of Hatboro, daughter Patricia Garza and her husband Juan of Hurst, Texas, his son John Fite and his wife Donna of Eagles Mere, Pa., and his son Charles Fite of Danboro. Joe is also survived by nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Keba. Family and friends Visitation will be on Wednesday morning at St. John the Baptist, 4040 Durham Road, Ottsville, from 10 to 11 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at the St. Johns Cemetery, Haycock Run Road, Haycock. Arrangements are in the care of the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) Quakertown.
