James S. Custer, 90, of Quakertown died August 8, 2012 in St. Luke's Hospital, Quakertown Campus. He was married for 66 years to the late Elizabeth "Betty" (Fluck) Custer who died on September 18, 2010. Born in Milford Square, Pa he was the son of the late John K. & Flora (Spare) Custer. He was a Prudential Insurance Agent retiring in 1982. James was a volunteer Income tax preparer for AARP for 20 years. He enjoyed nature and was an avid gardener and bird watcher. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WW II. Since 1950 he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Quakertown where he was a former church council member and Sunday school teacher. He is survived by a son Timothy J. of Quakertown, and a daughter Pamela Rosenthal and her husband Ed of Reston, VA. Six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a daughter Patricia Custer. Services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W.
