Herbert S. Godown, 77 of Quakertown formerly of Riegelsville died Sunday July 13, 2008 in his home. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Young) Godown. He was a printer for the Quakertown Free Press before retiring in 1992. After his retirement he continued working for the Free Press on a part time basis. Born in Milford, NJ he was the son of the late Noah and Emma (Melick) Godown. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Quakertown American Legion. He was also a member of the Haycock Senior Citizens and a former Scout Master of the Riegelsville Boy Scout Troop. Herbert was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Applebachsville. He is survived by three sons Douglas E. and wife Deborah of Inverness, FL, Terence C. and wife Suzanne of Raleigh, NC and Steven P. and wife Karen of Quakertown. Seven grandchildren Nichole, Douglas, Scott, Katherine, Alyssa, Nicholas and Rachel. One great-grandchild Serenity and two sisters Nancy and Florence. Services will be held on Friday July 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown, PA 18951.
