Gale Albert Steward

August 7, 1947 — July 17, 2018

Obituary Gale Albert Steward, age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17th, 2018. He was born August 7, 1947 in Sayre, Pennsylvania to Glenn Warntz Steward and Lesalee Jeanne (Snyder) Steward. Gale graduated from Berwick Area Senior High School in 1965 and studied engineering at Catonsville Community College in Baltimore County, MD. On June 11, 1988, Gale married the love of his life, Joanne (Balliet) at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville and remained part of the congregation, attending Sunday services and participating in the church council and building committees. On March 5, 1994, Gale and Joanne welcomed their daughter, Shawna Lesalee Steward to the world一his greatest accomplishment, as he would say一and raised her in love and laughter in their house in Quakertown. He retired from Cobham Integrated Electronic Solutions (formerly AEL then BAE) in 2013 after 28 years as an engineering technician. This year, he and Joanne celebrated 30 years of marriage and spent their anniversary at the beach. Gale was an active amateur radio operator一K3ND一obtaining his operators license in his early teens and was a member of the Frankford Radio Club for over 40 years. He was a lover of all things musical, especially Rock n Roll, always jamming out to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and played the bass guitar for the majority of his life. He enjoyed muscle cars, Nascar racing, gardening, reading and tinkering, and traveling with his wife and daughter, falling in love with the beauty of Paris and the French countryside on their trip in 2012. Above all, he loved being with his family and friends. Gale was always known as the "cool guy" and the man you could always count on. Throughout his life, he upheld a code of honor he inherited from his father and spoke his mind no matter what, never willing to back down from a fight, always prepared to defend those he loved. A brilliant storyteller, Gale could entertain anyone in his presence, enthrall them and make them laugh until their sides ached. There will never be enough words or time to fully describe Gale and his life一he lived so fully and with so much love in his heart, but he will live on with God and in the Universe and in every person he has ever known. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne, his daughter Shawna and her fiance, Joe, his sisters, Constance (Dave) Webb and Penny Steward, and his brother Stephen (Susan) Steward. To celebrate his life, a church service will be held at St. Andrews Evangelical Lutheran Church (20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944) on Saturday, August 11th at 11am, with a luncheon to follow. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society for research of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
