Elwood P. "Woody" Macwhorter, Jr.

Elwood P. "Woody" MacWhorter, Jr., 68, of Quakertown died Sunday, December 11, 2005 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Emma (Wright) MacWhorter. Born in Germantown, he was the son of the late Elwood P., Sr. & Anne (Chambley) MacWhorter. "Woody" was a 7th grade social studies teacher for the Quakertown Community School District 34 years, where he enjoyed coaching football, track, and volleyball. He was a member of both the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. He was also a member of the Brookside Country Club in Macungie and the former Quakertown Jaycees. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Jeffrey Steven and his wife Julie of Marana, AZ and James Scott and his wife Heather of Oceanside, CA; a sister Anne and her husband Edward of Belvidere, NJ; four grandchildren Nathan Scott, Sean Jameson, Ryan Scott, & Rebecca Lynn. Services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Call Wednesday evening 7:00-8:30 P.M. and Thursday 10:00-11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
