Eloise H. Gladfelter passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009. She was born on April 10, 1924 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, to Grace and Aaron Hartman. Moses Hartman and Mary Rinehart were her siblings, both of whom predeceased her. Eloise attended Temple University, where she earned an Associates degree as a Medical Secretary. In 1946 she married Dwight L. Gladfelter of York, PA. They lived for several years in the Philadelphia area before moving to Abington, where they had three children, Dwight L. Gladfelter Jr., Fred M. Gladfelter, and Eric M. Gladfelter. In 1958, they moved to Trumbauersville, where they made their permanent home. In addition to being a dedicated mother of three, Eloise was a working professional, serving as a medical secretary for GrandView Hospital, and later Dr. Robert Koelsch. Following the death of her husband in 1991, Eloise remained active as a grandmother, community member, and church member. She was the number one fan for her many grandchildrens' sporting events, which included baseball, soccer, and crew. Always putting others before herself, she frequently donated her time to the community, helping in the local food bank, serving as an elections officer, and assisting with fire company fund-raising events. Lastly, her great joy in life was involvement in her church. She attended Providence Presbyterian Church during the last several years, where she had many friends. Eloise H. Gladfelter is survived by her sons Fred Gladfelter of Leesport, Eric Gladfelter of Trumbauersville, and daughter-in-law Jeanne Smith of Cambridge, Mass. (wife to Dwight L. Gladfelter Jr., d. 2007) in addition to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was well loved and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 11, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2200 Kumry Road, Quakertown, PA 18951, with graveside burial to follow. Arrangements by C. R.
