Elizabeth M. (Golden) Cooper, Quakertown, formerly of Coudersport died June 21, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Warren Cooper with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage in March. Born in Olean, NY she was the daughter of the late Francis P. & Mary Elizabeth (Jaros) Golden. After earning her RN degree from Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1947, Betty worked as a registered nurse in various hospitals prior to earning her BSN at East Stroudsburg University. She closed her career as a school nurse at Souderton Area Senior High School from where she retired in 1988. She will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving mother to the family she and her husband raised. Betty was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spinnerstown. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons; Richard of Allentown, Bruce and wife Sandy of Shell Beach, California, and her extended family included her sister Roberta Kaspar and husband Frank, her niece and goddaughter Chris Witkowski and husband Nate, her Uncle George and Aunt Lorraine Jaros, Jan Brechtel and Terri Flanagan. She was predeceased by son Kenneth Cooper and two stepmothers, Grace (Zentmeyer) Golden and Phyllis (Heck) Golden. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 24th at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church 1565 Sleepy Hollow Rd. Spinnerstown. Call 9:30-10:30 A.M. in the church. The C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) Quakertown is in charge of the arrangements. Also, private graveside services will be held on Thursday at St. Eulalia Cemetery in Coudersport, PA.
