Edwin R. Slifer, Jr., 86, of Quakertown died February 24, 2009 in Genesis Health Care Quakertown Center. He was the husband of Evelyn (Hallman) Slifer. They were married 64 years last April. Born in Haycock Twp., he was the son of the late Edwin R., Sr. & Ellen (Raub) Slifer. He was a painter for Orbit Manufacturing in Perkasie before retiring. Edwin liked to tinker with various projects, he also liked landscaping and working outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Ronald and his wife Diane of Quakertown. One grandchild Ronald "JR" Slifer, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Quakertown, two great grandchildren Raymond and Richard. Four brothers Earl, Herbert, John, and Russell, two sisters Helen Weil and Evelyn Slifer. He was predeceased by five brothers Patrick, Howard, Robert, Henry, Walter and a sister Betty. Services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Call 10:00-11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
