Dorothy Mae Dorney

Dorothy Mae Dorney passed away on Tuesday, July 24th at the age of 91 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Dorney. Dorothy (Dot) was born on May 22, 1921 in Quakertown, Pa. to Mamie (Weisel) and Lloyd Scheetz. She grew up in Milford Square, graduated from Quakertown Community High School in 1938 and met and married Edward while he was in the service. Dot was a member of the Quakertown United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School in earlier years. She worked at the former New York Store and Leh's Department Store in Quakertown for more than 25 years. She was an avid reader of books, attended plays with her friends, and enjoyed embroidering pillowcases. She loved her family and spending time with grandchildren and was a loyal friend to so many people. Our mom (and grammy) will be greatly missed and loved and remembered forever by those she leaves behind. Survivors include: sons, Edward L. Dorney and Peter R. Dorney, husband of Lisa; daughters, Sheryl (Susie) A. Dorney and Mary Ellen (Molly) Minarik, wife of Thomas; 3 grandchildren, Andy, Ashley, and Collyn; and niece and nephews. Services will be held on Monday July 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Quakertown United Methodist Church 1875 Frier Rd. Quakertown PA 18951.
