Donald M. Egner, 88, of Willow Street, PA formerly of Quakertown died May 14, 2011 in Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris H. (Reed) Egner. Born in Quakertown he was the son of the late Frank, Sr. & Evelyn (Schoup) Egner. He was a 1941 graduate of Quakertown Community Schools and a 1949 graduate of Millersville State College. Mr. Egner did graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. Donald taught in the Berwick, PA schools for 30 years, prior to retirement. He was an active member of the Berwick Lions Club being elected to various offices of the club including serving as Deputy District Governor of his Lion region. Donald was a member of First United Church of Christ in Quakertown and was active in Berwick U.C.C. where he was elected deacon and elder. He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran serving during WW II, and a life member of the Quakertown American Legion Post #242. He is survived by a son Drue and his wife Cynthia of Willow Street, PA with whom Donald resided. A sister Muriel Galante and her husband Robert, of Quakertown. Six grandchildren Erika Marks and her husband Michael, Douglas Egner, Amy Kautz, Justine Egner, Alexander Egner, and Jesse Egner. A great grandchild Samantha Kautz. He was predeceased by a brother Frank Egner, Jr. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at First United Church of Christ 151 S. 4th St. Quakertown.
