Donald A. Dougherty, 85, of Quakertown died September 18, 2013 in Belle Haven Nursing Home, Quakertown. He was the husband of Ina Marita (Wiedenbeck) Dougherty. They would have been married 53 years on October 14, 2013. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Francis T. & Ella (Cooper) Dougherty. He retired in 1994 from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department Aviation Unit where he served as a Deputy Sheriff Pilot. In addition to that he was a part time Police Chief for the former Trumbauersville Police Department. Donald was a member of the Forrest Lodge VFW, the Hellertown Legion, the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of the former Quakertown Moose. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II and the Korean War. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Mario Dougherty, three daughters Petra C. Sloyer and her husband Roger, Cindy Lou Meyers and her husband Dennis, Marina L. Donohue and her husband Thomas. Two brothers Joseph Weaver, and Dennis Dougherty. Two sisters Pat Stauffer and Joan Stevenson. Six grandchildren Tonya Schan, Shane Stitt, Keenan Miller, Blake Kuntz, Elliot Sloyer, and Tommy Donohue. Three great grandchildren Jordan Schan, Anthony Schan, Gavin Miller. Predeceased by two brothers Henry Weaver and Frank Dougherty. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with military honors at Washingtons Crossing National Cemetery. The C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc.
