David M Smyth, 72 of Center Valley PA formerly of Spinnerstown, PA for 38 years, passed away on January 26th, 2011 at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with Leukemia. David was the husband of Marie (Jacquelin) Smyth celebrating their 52nd anniversary last September 2010. Born in Abington PA, he was the son of the late David M. & C. Evelyn (Templeton) Smyth. He was employed by Fisher & Porter in Warminster, for 50 years as a Field Services Engineer, retiring in 2005. David was a past member of the Horsham Fire Company and Ambulance corps for 14 years. David was an avid hunter and fisherman who always enjoyed the outdoors with his Sons, grandson and many friends. He taught Hunters Safety for the Pennsylvania Game Commission for many years. He enjoyed camping and traveling in his motorhome. Cooking was one of his greatest pleasures. He was a devoted Eagles and Phillies fan. Survivors: Sons: David M. Smyth, Jr. & companion Chris Dotter; Dr. Michael H. Smyth & wife Teri; Daughter Denise M. (Smyth) Kopinski & husband Scott. Grandchildren; Amanda, David IV, Kenny, Emily & Jonathan, Great Grandaughter Charlotte Ruth Smyth. Sister: Joanne (Smyth) Riddle. Services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. Call 9:00-11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Additional parking will be available at St. John's Lutheran Church parking lot on 9th St. Interment will follow at Trinity Great Swamp Cemetery 9150 Spinnerstown Rd., Spinnerstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania 3535 Market St. Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104, please make checks payable to Trustees of University of PA with Leukemia research marked on the memo line.
