Clara A. Matthias

Clara A. Matthias, 92, died peacefully in her home November 12, 2011. A lifelong resident of Quakertown, she was the wife of the late Robert D. Matthias. They were married for 54 years prior to his death in 1990. She was the daughter of Ambrose and Eva (Shatz) Snyder. She worked for 32 years for the RM Taylor Fur Company of Quakertown as a mink sewer until her retirement in 1981. Throughout her life, Clara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her great grandchildren. In her early years, Clara was very active in the Quakertown Fire Company Ladies auxiliary. She also enjoyed spending time and traveling with the Senior Center. Crocheting, sewing, and ceramics were also favorite activities. In her later years she enjoyed reading, watching game shows, and the Food Network. An avid cook, Clara will be remembered for her many delicious meals especially her wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas cookies. She is survived by a daughter Patricia Stauffer and her husband William of Gwynedd Valley, PA, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Stauffer of Stewartstown, PA and Jennifer Smith and her husband Todd of North Wales, PA, and three great grandchildren, Evan Robert Smith, Elizabeth Stauffer and Catherine Stauffer.
