Claire J. Tompkins

December 2, 1915 — December 18, 2010

Our beloved Claire Tompkins went peacefully to be with the Lord Dec 18th. She was surrounded by friends and family at Rockhill in Bucks County. It was only a couple weeks ago she celebrated a very joyous 95th birthday with her entire family. Husband, Kenny, was joyously remembered at that time in stories of the past told to a new generation. Claire's legacy remains in the forms of ample helpings of kindness, compassion and loyalty to her family of friends. Many residents of Rockhill Mennonite Community, in Sellersville, PA. May tell of Claire as a caring and considerate individual who fought the good and final fight. The stone has been rolled away and she is free. Life may be like a lovingly prepared meal with a great, final finish including that portion of sweetness leaving a longing for more. So enamored were we with our beautiful Claire. A Christmas baby, Claire was born on Dec 2, 1915, child of Irish immigrants with meager status. Aged 16 she met Kenny, married in '37. Love of Kenny, raising and support of her family quickly consumed the balance of Claire's adult life. She was the wife of the Fire Chief of Philadelphia. Always, her top priority was being a mom to Barry and Bev, though she also worked many jobs to help support the family. No complaints, she raised her "wonderful" family to include 2 Children: Barry (Helen) Tompkins of Doylestown; Bev (Tim) McKeehan of Newport Beach; 6 grandchildren: Suzanne, Kristine, Kerrie, Tracy, Misty, and Amanda; and 13 great-grandchildren. Everlasting to everlasting she will be loved and chronicled by those she loved and those who loved her. Private family memorial service. Arrangements by the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc.
