Carolyn R. Strunk, 76, of Newtown formerly of Philadelphia and Perkasie died Wednesday, August 10, 2005 in Chandler Hall, Newtown. She was the wife of Elmer F. Strunk, Jr. They were married 55 years last September. Born in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Frank W. & Lydia (Thompson) Clayton. She was the principal at Benjamin Rush Elementary School in Bensalem before her retirement in 1986. She graduated from Girls High in Philadelphia and then attended West Chester State Teachers College where she received her Bachelor degree. She then continued her education and received her Masters degree at Temple University. Carolyn was president of BTEA and also a member of PSEA/NEA, she was also a member of PSERS. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Quakertown and a former member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Holmesburg. She was an accomplished organist and pianist playing at age 12 for Zion Episcopal Church in the Logan Section of Philadelphia. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Ocean City, New Jersey. Carolyn was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Robert C. Strunk and his wife Nancy E. and a daughter Ruth S. Curtier both of Washington Crossing, PA. Four grandchildren Diana White and her husband William, Kevin Curtier and his wife Amber, Robert Strunk and Lisa Strunk. One great granddaughter Mackenzie White. A sister Dorothy Cooper of Rushland. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Keith W. Curtier. Services will be held on Monday, August 15, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church 560 S. Main St., Quakertown, PA. Call Sunday, August 14, 2005 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Chandler Hall 99 Barclay St. Newtown, PA 18940 or to Emmanuel Episcopal Church at the above address.
