Barbara A. Hitman, 79, of Quakertown passed away peacefully on May 20, 2013. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Hitman. Born in Seaford, Delaware she was the daughter of the late James & Clara (Boise) Hastings. She was a devoted mother, and grandmother and is survived by her children Gail Colbert (Paul), Rebecca (Becky) Petko (Tom), and Paul (Dan) Hitman. Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a sister Mary Lou (Shelley) Spicer. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul B. Hastings, James W. Hastings, and a sister Jeannette Rogers. Barbara organized and ran the former Upper Bucks Clothing Bank until she became ill. She was a devoted member of the Quakertown United Methodist Church, Quakertown where she was past secretary of Trustees, President and Secretary of the Friendship Circle and chairperson of the rummage sale. A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 20 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John's United Methodist Church Pine & Poplar Street Seaford, Delaware and on Friday June 21, at 11:00 A.M. in Quakertown United Methodist Church 1875 Freier Rd. Quakertown, Pa 18951. The C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Quakertown United Methodist Church 1875 Freier Rd. Quakertown, PA 18951. Barbara's family would like to extend sincere gratitude to those devoted to her care in the past years at Independence Court and Phoebe Richland Nursing Center.
