Anna C. Bierer

Anna Cecilia (Maher) Bierer passed away peacefully on February 9, 2015 at the Quakertown Center at the age of 91. She was the wife of the late Wallace "Eddie" Bierer who passed in 2013. Anna was born on March 4, 1923 in Footedale, PA to James and Mary Maher. She was one of 7 children of a coal miner and his wife during the depression, She attended and graduated from North Union High School in Uniontown, PA. She was employed by Bell Telephone Co. (now Verizon) as a switchboard operator. She met the love of her life Eddie in 1946. They were married on January 24, 1947 and would have celebrated their 68th anniversary this past January. When her daughter Mary Ann wanted to go to college she went back to work for Shop Rite in Warminster, She stayed with Shop-Rite (Wakefern Foods) for 20 years before her retirement. When her husband Eddie retired they would spend their summers travelling the United States visiting family and friends. They especially enjoyed the trips to Las Vegas and California Wine Country. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and a doting grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Mary Ann Windmassinger and her favorite son-in-law Mark Windmassinger, Sr. of Quakertown. Her son James of Danboro; her grandson Mark, Jr., SSGT USMC and his wife Melissa ,SSGT USMC of Camp Pendelton, CA; her step granddaughter Annemarie Marino of Perkasie and and her sons Casey and Chase. She will also be missed by her newest grandson Tegen and her great granddaughter to be Evelyn Rose. She is also survived by her sister Genevieve Burd of Madison, OH, her sister-in-law Gayle McKenney and her husband John of South Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Eddie, her brothers Vince, Tom, James, and Jerry and by her sister Esther. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Rd. Newtown, PA 18940. The C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com) Quakertown is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016 or the Wounded Warrior Project,1120G Street N.W. Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005. The family would also like to thank the staff of the north wing of the Quakertown Center for their care and compassion of Anna during her final days.
