John Bruce Hagan died Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Ruth (nee March) Hagan, his wife of 22 years. He began his career as a country stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and retired from Smith Barney in 2007. Bruce loved to travel, especially to St. Thomas, where he maintained a second home, and he loved Ireland, he had already made plans for a trip later this year. Bruce was a member of the Wayne Rotary and served a term as President. He was also a former member of the Wayne Jaycees, former President of the Board of Directors of The Crefeld School in Chestnut Hill, and Past President of the Board of the Tulane Alumni Association. Bruce grew up in Quakertown, Pa. He graduated from Princeton University, where he sang with the Glee Club and was one of the original members of the Footnotes. He received a law degree from Tulane Law School. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother S. Mildred Hagan, his children Leslie A. Bone of Toccoa Falls, Georgia, J. Brent Hagan of Phoenixville, Pa., and Liz of Wayne, and 9 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 28, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Wayne.
